Job Description

Position Overview:

This position is responsible for Fitting/Welding Process piping and associated stands and structures based on P&IDs, drawings and verbal instruction given by immediate supervisor. Project/Maintenance employees must obtain the necessary parts and tools to perform all jobs safely, as well as monitor spare parts and supplies to ensure that projects are completed in a safe and timely manner. Some Travel required.

Responsibilities of the Fitter/Welder position include but are not limited to the following:

  • Work with and around hazardous material.
  • Perform LOTO (Lock Out Tag Out).
  • Perform Hot Work inside and or outside the facility.
  • Capable of climbing and performing elevated work (Fall Protection).
  • Understand and interrupt P&IDs, drwgs for production of piping systems, and associated structural equipment
  • Operate different types of man lifts and forklifts.
  • Ability to lift up to 55 lbs.
  • Ability to weld carbon, stainless steels
  • Fabricate/install threaded and welded pipe.
  • Monitor all equipment, such as welders, grinder, torches daily in order to maintain proper working order.
  • Develop parts list and parts inventory list.
  • Pipe fitting capability, clean and fit material to be welded
  • Performs fabrication work based on drawings, instruction from Lead/Supervisor
  • Working knowledge of PSM
  • Ability to weld utilizing MIG (GMAW), TIG (GTAW), and STICK (SMAW)
  • Familiar with HOT WORK permitting.
  • Keeps work area free of clutter and debris.
  • Ability to perform Confined Space Entries and familiar with all associated permitting.

Skills/Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Some technical training or college courses in welding/electrical/mechanical fields preferred.
  • 6 months required of related experience.
  • Experience operating machinery – welding machine, torch, power tools, 
  • Experience operating motor vehicles – forklift, man lift, golf cart, truck.

Working Conditions:

  • Must be willing to work OT/Weekends/Nights as needed
  • Travel: 30%-40%
