Job Description

The Technical Sales Rep will assist District Sales in the preparation of bids and in engaging customers for input in the design of products and services. Candidates should have experience diagnosing problems in Oil & Gas Production and providing treatment recommendations.

  • Develop and maintain relationships with customers at all levels of technology and supply chain organizations, including field/region locations and corporate offices.
  • Coordinate activities related to customer interaction which may include site activities, off-site meetings, social events and conference calls.
  • Monitor organizational structure and personnel changes within customer organizations and update that information in a Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system. Understand how the customer or prospect makes decisions.
  • Serve as primary liaison with customer technology, operations & procurement personnel and manage all commercial account activities related to pricing, delivery, purchasing documentation and invoicing. Has primary responsibility for insuring that supply to customers is maintained at appropriate levels.
  • Presents proposals for all RCK products to customers. Coordinate meetings for discussions regarding chemical and/or service selections. Responsible for understanding product cost and recommending pricing based on potential value delivery and competitive intelligence.
  • Coordinates or assists with negotiation and execution of supply contracts and Master Service Agreements.
  • Manages all Requests for Quotation (RFQ) and bid activities for assigned accounts, with primary responsibility for assuring that all proposals meet requirements and are submitted on time.
  • Utilizes information provided by technical rep and customer interviews to develop economic value propositions for the customer.
  • Develop and maintain contact activities with non-buying prospects to develop relationships and identify opportunities for offering a value proposition.
  • Actively seeks information from customers to develop a need for higher margin RCK products or new RCK technology and/or services.
  • Responsible for monitoring pricing and determining when changes need to be made via contract adjustments, surcharges, credits or product changes.
  • Ensure that resources are available for diagnosis and solving of technical problems. Be able to provide advice on the use, properties and modifications of RCK products.
  • Provides technical assistance in the performance of RCK products. Assists customer in optimizing the use of RCK products to maximize operating margins.
  • Review technical information provided by customer technical reps to support sales.

Job Requirements 

• Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Science,  or Technology.

• 5+ years related oilfield chemicals technical experience.

• Ability to travel up to 60% when required within the US and Canada.

• Hands-on position with frequent visits to the field to meet with customers and service personnel.

• Strong presentation skills

• Strong written and verbal skills

• Ability to negotiate in tense and high stakes situations

• Adaptable to changing business needs

• Strong Microsoft Office knowledge and skills

• Ability to collaborate to accomplish work goals

• Oil and Gas Industry contacts are a plus
