Job Description

We are seeking a strategic-minded, hands-on manager for our local customer services and logistics team. This position would be responsible for managing carrier relationships and strategies in order to streamline cross functions throughout the plant.  This position will also be responsible for carrier management, transportation related KPI’s, and overseeing dispatch functions. 
 

This position will report directly to the Plant Director and is located in Midland, TX.
 

Responsibilities:

  • Manage carrier relationships and strategies.
  • Plan and evaluate carrier capacity & performance in multiple transportation modes including bulk, truckload van and flatbed, LTL, parcel and intermodal.
  • Develop appropriate decision-making processes and protocol for the use of 3rd Party Carriers working in concert with an internal fleet operations.
  • Utilize analytics to identify and execute savings opportunities.
  • Source and onboard new carriers.
  • Work cross functionally with procurement, sourcing, customer service, operations, and sales to improve costs, service, and delivery performance.
  • Oversee the dispatch function for the organization.
  • Work with the procurement, sourcing, customer service, operations, and finance functions to ensure the organization has an effective process to manage freight costs and related charges.
  • Effective communication across the organization and with external suppliers and customers.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of business processes to ensure compliance with company policies.
  • Develop and report KPI’s to drive continuous improvement.

Required (Basic/Minimum Qualifications):

  • Successful 5-10 year track record in related freight functions with a strong emphasis in bulk chemical transportation.
  • Proficient in the use of ERP and dispatch management systems.
  • Strong proficiency with MS Office Suite – Excel, Word, Outlook and query tools.
  • Strong process development skills.
  • Strong collaborative and communications skills.
  • Ability to effectively relate to and communicate with people across all levels of the organization including suppliers and customers as necessary and appropriate.
  • An ability to concentrate on meeting objectives and performance.
  • Able to work independently with limited supervision with strong initiative and finishing skills.
  • Comfort/familiarity with constructing presentations, organization communications, and business cases.
  • Strong analytical capabilities and critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks to achieve deadlines in a changing environment.
  • High School Diploma or GED is required.

Desired skills/experience/education:

  • Petrochemical industry experience.
  • Oilfield/Energy related experience.
  • Experience working in a chemical manufacturing organization
