Job Description

The Freight Analyst is responsible for managing the order to cash function related to freight and freight payments.  This position will provide cross-functional analytical and planning support to a wide variety of functions within the company including but not limited to procurement, sourcing, customer service, operations, sales, business development, and finance.


This position will report directly to the Logistics Manager and is located in Houston, TX.
 

Travel: It is expected that this position will have limited travel
 

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure freight payables, carrier accounts and rail invoices are processed in a timely manner.
  • End of month financial accrual requirements are communicated and routinely managed with Accounts Payables
  • Reconcile end the month variance for financials to ensure all charges are accounted for.
  • All freight payment disputes with carriers and/or their factoring company are managed in a timely manner and collaborated with Account Payables
  • Provide training to carriers on proper billing requirements, this is to ensure freight invoices meet a standard procurement expectation
  • Support Sales, Accounting, Purchasing and Logistics with freight data and customized reports if needed.
  • Ensure compliance of freight payment process with Rockwater Energy accounting and cost standard procedures.
  • Provide assistance for any internal & external compliance audit.
  • Promote continuous process improvement
  • Assist in training personnel on the proper use of the TMW system

Required (Basic/Minimum Qualifications):

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Logistics, or Supply Chain Management, Accounting, Finance or equivalent work experience is required.
  • Significant exposure to chemical and related operations and distribution
  • Working knowledge of Accounting acumen
  • Strong knowledge of Freight Payables processes
  • Working knowledge of Logistics processes
  • Intermediate level proficiency with MS Office Suite – Excel, Word, Outlook and query tools
  • Strong process development skills
  • Strong collaborative and communications skills
  • Ability to effectively relate to and communicate with people across all levels of the organization including suppliers and customers as necessary and appropriate
  • Reporting and presentation skills
  • An ability to concentrate on meeting objectives and performance
  • Strong analytical capabilities and critical thinking skills
  • Ability to prioritize tasks to achieve deadlines in a changing environment

Desired skills/experience/education:

  • Working knowledge of TMW or related Transportation Management Systems
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics AX
  • Oilfield/Energy related experience
  • Experience working in a chemical manufacturing organization
